Though the students enjoy solving equations, however in many cases they tend to make mistakes. These mistakes could be because of carelessness or because the child did not understand the concept properly. It is always a good idea to be aware about the common mistakes which students usually make so that these can be corrected from the early age. Here are some of the common mistakes which students usually make when solving equations.

☞ 4(5−d)=8 ⇒ 20−d=8

The correct answer is 4(5−d)=8 ⇒ 20−4d=8

    ⇒ 4×5−4×d=8
    ⇒ 20−4d=8

  • 10m+3=9n
    ⇒ 10m+3−3=9n−3 (subtracting LHS & RHS with the same number)

    The correct answer is 8a−5=7b ⇒ 8a=7b+5
